Labour laws are amended at a time of pandemic, the first and foremost thing to be noted. The argument is being given that to attract companies leaving China, the government is giving insufficient reasons behind amending these laws. These laws are made with an intention to protect the interest of labours coming from marginalised section of society.
SOME MAJOR LABOUR LAWS- labour laws are mainly influenced by article no. 21 of constitution of India that gives people right to lead their lives with dignity. These laws are like giving equal pay for same work and curbing working hours, basic dignity, maintaining proper hygiene, enough sanitisation facilities and basic health cover, proper future benefits.
There are only three laws remaining one is that any firm can not make bondage labour, second one is minimum working hours are increased from 8 to 12 hours and the third one is providing basic retirement amounts.
TIMING- One major concern is about decision timing. This decision is taken on such time when people has other major issues to discuss. So we can see that these changes are made in a time when there is large hue and cry in the country. The country is busy in discussion of labours coming home.
These laws are changed in a situation that there would no proper discussion on the profit and loss of these changes but after some assessment we can see no immediate profit of these changes. So we can say that result of these changes would come in future. So we can say that there is no major need to amend these laws in hurry.
