In a true democracy people need representation on every level of a country's political decision making and in America this would taken as an important part of their election.
There are two major political parties in USA one is democratic party and the other one is republican party but these parties do not declare their candidates without people's consent, so we can say that there is true democracy at approximately every level in USA. In America people gather to decide a party's election candidate in school colleges and at every level of election, there newschannels take interviews at several stages of election, the newschannels do one to one debate at approx every level of election and hence people choose their right candidate, in India there is no system like this here party's top leadership decide that which candidate should party's election candidate and people obviously had very less time to decide and here is no interview done before final election in India. This is upto the candidate to face interview or not.
So this should be change for better, this should be changed in a way that world's largest democracy should reflect right representative.
